Phillip H. Phan joined the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2008, focusing his research on technology and competitive advantage, corporate governance and strategic management theory. He currently holds a joint appointment as the Alonzo and Virginia Decker Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and professor in the Department of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He serves as an associate editor for several journals, including the Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Financial Stability and Journal of Technology Transfer. In 2006, he became a Robert Bosch Foundation Public Policy Fellow, and in 2007 was awarded the Stephan Schrader Best Paper Award for his paper, “Scientists or entrepreneurs: Rent (mis)appropriation from discoveries made in university labs.” Phillip earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Strategic Management.
